Pre-dreadnought Battleship Jaureguiberry (1893) 1/700
Description
Another "sample fleet" French battleship, commissioned in 1893 in an attempt to respond to the British Royal Sovereign battleship class. The design was significantly different from the other 5 ship, with dual 138 turrets in order to save weight, and inspired the Russian Tsesarevich battleship built by the same company FCM a few years later. Despite inherent design flaws, she was considered somewhat better than her "sisterships", serving through the first world war and providing fire support during the Dardanelles campaign and participating in the Suez canal defense. She was then decommissioned and scrapped in 1934. I designed this model for 1/700 scale, and for once, I was rather "successful" printing it with my SLA printer, and then assembling it. As usual with my models, I do not represent the railings or the top of the masts, as I would rather use photoetched parts and brass rods to make them. I also do not include some of the smallest details for the same raison. Maybe one day I will make some lifeboats, but I am not very motivated to draw them and I still have plenty to re-use from plastic kits spares, so this time again there will be no lifeboats included.
