Chevy Aveo Wheel Nut Cap
Description
UPDATE 9.30.2021 - Upgraded to v1.1 ... Removed some mysterious voids in the original models which would weaken the printed objects and cause them to snap off at the nut end under normal torque (now that was a facepalm moment). Also, shortened the threaded end by a few mm because it was needlessly long. ORIGINAL NOTES: 9.29.2021 - These are wheel nut covers I designed for my Chevy Aveo after realizing a replacement set of 16 would cost a significant portion of the value of the car. Yeah, I'm mostly joking, but man those things are expensive! They're fully threaded and available in 4 flavors. I discovered after initial printing that a 19mm hex head, when printed on my Ender, was a bit too snug to fit a 19mm wrench comfortably - you could work it on there, but it was a pain... So I made an 18mm version which is quite a bit looser, but is close enough that a 19mm wrench can twist it off just fine. Also, two of my lug nuts have been replaced with a Dorman part which looks pretty similar to the originals (it's the gold one in the pics), but has a 2mm thread on the cover instead of the OEM thread of 1.5mm. All versions I've made are included in this Thing. The lug studs on my Aveo are 12 x 1.5mm, so if your Chevy's studs have the same threads and uses plastic covers for them, one of these (Dorman or OEM) should work fine for you. I suspect they'd actually fit on a bunch of vehicles with lug nut covers. However, because reality can be a PITA, YMMV. They were designed to be printed Hex side down with no support. I recommend any filament which can stand at least mildly elevated temps, due to their proximity to the brakes. My initial prototype run was printed in PETG and has held up fine over the summer, but I'm up near Canada so take that with a grain of salt if you live closer to tropical latitudes. BTW if you need modifications and have specific measurements for me, hit me up. No promises, but if I have the time I'll try to bang out new versions for your specific application and add them to this Thing. I seriously really can't believe how expensive these things are.
