Foamcore Tabletop Photography Reflector Stands
Description
I've been doing a lot of small-scale tabletop and macro photography lately, and I miss not having some of the tools I use with larger subjects. Holding cards or foam board as a reflector with one hand while taking photos with the other was a hassle, so I decided to make some miniature clip-on stands to help position small pieces of foam board. These are designed for the 3/16" (~5mm) thick boards, which are commonly found at craft stores. I printed mine in non-reflective black PLA. White would also work, but I'd avoid other colors which might alter the reflected light. There are dedicated left and right end pieces, plus one for adding to the middle of longer spans. The front and back of the legs are unequal in case your board is a bit cupped and you feel it needs more support on one side, otherwise point the shorter end towards the subject to help keep the legs out of the frame. The channel should pinch a fresh board and stay in place, but not hopelessly crush the foam inside. Also, if you need to join pieces of foam board together to make complex structures, there's a few other designs on this site for clips/connectors which do just that. You could probably make curved reflectors by combining pieces from those designs with the legs from this one.
