FunTime Marble Roller System Version 1.1

FunTime Marble Roller System Version 1.1

Description

This is version 1.1 of the FunTime Marble Roller System. There are a number of tweaks that make this much easier and enjoyable to play with. Version 1.1 reduces the number of pieces for connecting poles and plates and makes it much easier to secure these items. In addition the rail splitter and combiner mounting has been standardized to match the rest of the system. Quick note: The post that is disconnected in the picture was left there intentionally to demonstrate that sometimes you just don't need a post after adding additional mounting points. :) I put together on the fly some notes that I've attached. They aren't written very well but you DO WANT to read through them. Life will be much easier if you do. Overview: This system is designed to let people construct and deconstruct a marble roller as fast and as often as they like, as well as as tall as they can build it! Without spending hours designing a system or printing 'blocks' of functionality which have limited usage you can start building from the bottom up, making adjustments along the way without too much difficulty. The system was designed to be non-distractive from the marble's movement. While I print my parts in neutral PLA, turquoise is also nice. There are currently two additional projects that work with this at present. The FunTime marble Roller Lift System https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:4988926 which allows you to automate the roller for continuous action. As well as the Battery Pack for mounting a battery to your project should you not want to use an power adapter. https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:4989321 More to come! Tools you will need: 1/8" drill to clean out post holes after printing. Clippers to trim up trusses that mount. These and screws are all very tight. Small needle nose plyers. Actually any size will work. You will need these when attaching screws to posts as the screws are very tight to prevent wobble and leaning. While I use glass marbles that are 1/2"(approximately) steel or heaving balls will work even better. But if you design a track testing with one type of marble and switch be forewarned that the marble or ball will travel differently. :) Have fun!
