Toyota Celica/MR-S shift boot collar
Description
Okay this is maybe the most niche thing I've designed so far. Let's say like me, you have a 1999-2005 Toyota Celica, in my case a ZZT231. Let's say this Celica has the C60 6-speed manual. And let's say you've got enough miles on it that the stock leather shift knob is worn out to the point it needs replaced. The stock shifter boot has a chrome-plated collar which is retained with a ring clip to the top of the shift boot and allows the boot to move independent of the shift lever while also setting the height of the boot. A small ring of the chrome is visible which meets up to the standard shift knob. This is fine and well, until you go to replace the shift knob with something else - say for example, one of the TRD shift knobs. In my case I used the TRD shift knob designed for the GT86/BR-Z/FR-S - TRD part MS20418001. In the case of the 86, it has a collar below the shift knob for selecting reverse. So the knob has a nice brushed aluminium ring at the bottom to meet that collar. The Celica however... has that chrome ring. Which sits quite a bit lower than the bottom of the knob too. This appears to have also been an issue with the TRD shift knob intended for the Celica. So, this print is specifically for that application - TRD MS20418001 into a ZZT231 Celica. A bit of quick searching online suggests this exact issue occurs equally with the MR-S and possibly some Corolla models using the C60. The print eliminates the top ring, raises the top of the boot 10mm and provides a 22mm projection that meets up with the lower portion of the new shift knob. End result is a commonly available shift knob (I got mine on Wish!) that suits the car, with the boot meeting up neatly instead of having this silly chrome ring visible that rattles around. Installation is straight forward - remove your shifter surround with boot, turn the boot inside out exposing the clip, pop the clip off and pull out the chrome plated piece, insert the print, replace the clip, reassemble. I hope this actually helps someone else - it was purely to solve an issue with my own car but I'm surely not the only person with a 20 year old Celica that had a tatty interior!
