Whirligig - ‘As The Crow Flies’
Description
A prototype/concept design for a mechanical whirligig depicting a crow which flaps it’s wings when there is sufficient wind. The entire model should be mounted on a long pin, 6mm Diameter through the hole in the bottom and allowed to spin. If functioning correctly, the crow should turn in the same direction as the prevailing wind and flap it’s wings. ‘Crow’ mesh body adapted from mjprice’s excellent Magpie in Flight from Thingiverse. All other aspects of the design, including the fan and press-in connectors are my own. I envisaged Blue PLA for the tube, White for the clouds and fan mechanism, and black for the crow. This is a concept design and as such it is unlikely to function properly, although I have been known to surprise myself sometimes. I have not printed or tested it at all although I may do in the future if bored/drunk. If anyone does build one, please send photos and details of any adaptations required. I’ve included an assembled STL version for instruction purposes.
