Dual Gear Extruder Direct Drive Side Mount

Description

This kit allows direct drive mount of a dual gear extruder, such as Winsinn or equivalent. It consists of 2 required mount parts, and a choice 2 optional filament out sensor mount parts. The end result should a direct drive mount that avoids any x-axis build area loss, and little or no Y-axis build area loss. It should work with most Ender, Longer and other similar printers with a standard open source 3-wheel hotend bracket. I currently have it installed and operational on my Longer LK5 Pro printer. - A base that mounts between the x-axis wheels and hotend bracket. It includes a place for a zip tie to secure the wiring harness. - A holder for the extruder and stepper motor, which mounts to the base. This part includes standoffs, air gaps and vents for the motor, to reduce heat transfer to the extruder, which happens with some motors and long prints. - A bracket for a typical aftermarket filament out sensor, which mounts to the holder part, if needed. Alternatively, another filament out sensor bracket which could be mounted to the top bar of the printer frame. All parts are oriented for optimal printing and minimal supports. See the "Assembled" stl to see how they are look post-assembly. The simplest printing approach is to print the Winsinn_Side_Mount_Kit.stl, which includes all three of the basic required parts. Actual photos on my printer coming soon. Updates: 2021-11-08: Added Longer filament sensor housing part. Also total redesign of the base and holder to be more robust. The "Alpha" design failed over time as a result of stress from retractions. See post processing instructions.
