Portal Gun (Portal Stories: Mel)
Description
Description It’s a replica of the portal gun from mod Portal Stories: Mel for game Portal 2. Designed for the 8 years old kid so please check dimensions if you want print it for yourself. The handle is smaller (I can fit only 3 fingers instead of 4), but even with 3 fingers I can hold the gun relatively comfortably and the rest of the gun could be fine. Secondly it isn't a perfect and professional model, but was more as a learning process so not everything is perfect. For example please check all clearances for yourself as they may not be enough and you will need to do sanding to match parts. And lastly all parts designed to work with additional parts and items I bought from amazon, so feel free to re-design parts for your needs or remove them at all if you don’t want to use some functionality (for example spinning lights). If you re-design this gun feel free to share it with others, but you can’t use it commercially. I’m sorry that I haven’t documented the whole process. All this is new for me so I will do that with my other designs. If you will have any questions or you will struggle with something feel free to contact me. Everything printed with PLA on ender 5 with temperature 205-210C and bed 60C. Bigger parts printed with 0.2 layer height and smaller parts with 0.12 to add a bit more strength. Some parts may need too much support so feel free to split them. I wanted to keep it looking like the original model from the game so I was willing to sacrifice some filament and a bit of extra time on supports. Everything designed to be connected with screws (mostly M4x20mm self tapping). Cable connectors (yellow cylindrical) have M4x16mm machine screws glued inside and M4 nuts inserted into the main body. This way the yellow cover holds nuts in place. Or you can just use super glue to attach them. All files are in Stl format, but I included a Step file as well so you can open the whole gun and edit as you like. Plate takes 4.5-5v and my battery is 7.8v so I used this module to avoid the risk of burning plate. 3w LEDs as front lights (blue, green, yellow): https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B07DCZGC3C/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o04_s00?ie=UTF8&th=1 Copper tape to transfer electricity from battery to spinning lights: https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B077TN1SPW/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 Battery storage box to hold my 6 rechargeable AA batteries (I think that maybe overkill): https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B07T3CVNR5/ref=ppx_od_dt_b_asin_title_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 Sound plate with 1w speaker (loud enough): https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B07X7G7DZG/ref=ppx_od_dt_b_asin_title_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 3 position switch to toggle between 3 lights: https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B01N6ROMZW/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o04_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 330Ohm resistors for each LED (maybe too much because firstly planned use 9v battery): https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B01L4Q0RZ6/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o06_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 Battery connector: https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B00YTRNLGU/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o07_s01?ie=UTF8&psc=1 On/Off switch: https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B087PYW9BS/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o08_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 200rpm motor: https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B07R7VB7KL/ref=ppx_od_dt_b_asin_title_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 5mm LEDs: https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B07DNTSQQL/ref=ppx_od_dt_b_asin_title_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 One of these push buttons used for trigger: https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B01N67ICEC/ref=ppx_od_dt_b_asin_title_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 Two bearings to help motor spin cylindrical part with LEDs: https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B07TMKWY3R/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o02_s01?ie=UTF8&psc=1
