Tomato clock remix timer case

Tomato clock remix timer case

Description

This is my remixed design of a clock/timer shaped like a tomato. The first picture: now the tomato has the lid painted black and filled the useless holes For more ideas see the "Iron Wood Pecker", picture taken from a book that enjoyed me in the childhood. No stupid Donald Duck and alike. Warnig: Befor You put in someones hand! The original desing has some flaws. One commenter on Instructables said "well thought in every detail. Bullshit. I have changed it as much as a can using Tinkercad. Say all the parts could be pushed but will not fall into the housing. this can not be said for the LED-display. It has NO support inside. It needs to be glued on at least. Update: New caps files (left/right) for just filling the holes or using on the push buttons to be put on the side. Christmas time is nearing soon. Make gifts for those you love. Give the tomato a new meaning, make it a toy, say a kids alarm clock with MP3 player. (Put in a speaker to the stupidly big made hole on top.) Lid file replaced with filled parts -lid V1-2, -lid V2 (taller shaft) Improve the useability. Read on generation iPhone poeple, conditioned to accept dumb "touch it-hold it pressed" design made on everything now. This thing has to have one button (physical) for each function! See the old time analog alarm clocks, learn from history of making a good user interface design. The anchestors did it very well on those applications. Overcome the single "turn and push knob" design. It forces the user to grip the whole tomato just for pushing the button. It's a no go! Let it work like an alarm clock where you can push the mute button even in the dark just by slapping gently on it- from the top of course. Solution Hide the rarely used time set knob on the back. Omit the rectangular cutout / hole with knob entirely or put the LED indicating the status or something else to the front. Improve the parts design. DO NOT separate the lid from the top case part (prefereable edit the F3D file) Add a pocket for the top push button cap. The thing Some imperfections included for free ;-). -Since the files have absolute NO clearance some filing is needed on the flange on the upper shell part. Sorry for inconvenience. Problematic, the outer perimeter has just one layer hight. Depending on the filament it might split and come off easily. Files taken from an Instructable. Based on the published Pomodoro timer thing. https://www.instructables.com/The-Pomodoro-Tomato For creating the missing inserts an modifiying the parts You could edit the provided F3D-file (Fusion360???) first. This is not my department. Why is that changed design: My wife wants it to become a kitchen timer thing. I do not like the way it makes it hard to get into. I do prefer the kids surprise egg container (Kinder- Ueberraschungs-Ei) I do not like things barely helt in pace by using the magnets. I do not like the rectangular cutout surrounding the knob on the front face. Uggly, wth, no. todo: black parts filling the side holes. Upd: Instructable allows using a built in 3D file viewer for rotating the object Make a big push button cap out of the lid. Print it out using black or orange, filament (give it some colour contrast). Make some electronics. Put the time setting knob to the back side. Make the front hole a holder for a LED or start push button or so. Print: In order to mitigate the stepped outer hull use a low layer hight. The lower the smoother the look. I have used 0.24mm on the top and bottom part. The lid printed at 0.16mm layer hight.
