Woodturning Chisel, Gouge & Tool Edge Protector
Description
This is a variety of push-on protectors for woodturning chisels. If, like me, you tote your woodturning tools to various venues in a toolbox, where they can rattle around and crash into each other and the end of the toolbox, you may find these valuable to help protect the sharp cutting edge that you've taken time & care to produce on each of your chisels and gouges. Each protector has an internal end stop that fits against the lower part of the bevel and prevents the cutting edge from touching the end of the protector. Some protectors therefore have a required orientation, which is printed on the side of the protector. I have printed all of the attached files in TPU and fitted the protectors to the relevant chisel, gouge or tool. There is a fair degree of stretch in TPU that allows for a snug fit, even if the size isn't quite correct. It is a 1/4" wide parting tool that is reground with an angle to allow an external dovetail to be easily cut into a spigot.
