Over-engineered IKEA TERTIAL table mount

Over-engineered IKEA TERTIAL table mount

Description

I didn't like the stock lamp mount, especially that you assemble the lamp simply by sliding the "shaft" into really loose hole in the mount without any additional secure. I can imagine situation when I smash the lamp by accident, shaft slips out of the base and lamp falls on my desk, damaging something. So I decided to deisgn a more reliable mount. To assemble everything you will need: - 6 pcs. 2,9 mm x 16 mm self tapping screws - 1 pcs. M4 x 15 pan head screw - some thick grease (not necessary, but highly recommended. Without grease parts will be squeaking during movement) Assembly is pretty simple: - put everything together using self tapping screws. You might want to add some grease on the "rotating part". - slide the lamp shaft into hole in "rotating part". (Please keep in mind that the lamp is made by sheet metal bending, so its dimensional accuracy is far from perfect. You might need a little whack with a mallet to connect the mount with lamp shaft properly). - secure the lamp shaft from sliding out of hole with M4 screw - shaft has a stock cutout, so you don't have to drill any additional holes. The mount uses stock screw for mounting to the table. You might need to sand some parts a little before final assembly to ensure that everything will be moving freely (especially the cylindrical surface on "rotating part" as shown on one of photos). I tried to make sure that clearances are optimal, but final result may vary, depending on how your printer performs and what filament you use. Parts don't require any supports. Small cutouts in "bottom part" are desgined to make removing part from heated bed simplier, as it is the hardest part to remove..
