Honeycomb computer monitor stand

Honeycomb computer monitor stand

Description

I wanted to raise my center computer monitor and decided to learn SCAD at the same time. The result: a pretty simple parametric honeycomb creator. You can tell it the dimensions of the stand, the number of rows of hexagonal prisms you want (it creates regular hexagons, and therefore although it sizes the hexagons to perfectly match the desired stand *height,* the columns might end barely short of the desired stand *width.*) You can also supply dimensions in inches or millimeters, the wall thickness, and the angle through which to "cut" through the stand. (I didn't want to make a stand using my entire spool of filament. 2 angled sets of prisms support the monitor fine.) You can also change the thickness of the "cut." The starting values match what I used for my print. (I chose 1.4mm walls to match my nozzle, 30 degrees so I didn't need to print supports, and an inch and a half thick "cuts" so that the stand wouldn't fall over. Because the stand was almost 5" tall, I decided to specify 5 rows. The resulting ~1 inch cells work pretty well as pen holders. :)
