Gundam Modification - Excavator Boom Arm - Articulated
Description
This here was something I wanted to do to a model kit for a long time, but never had the know-how or the means as to what I would use it for. Growing up, my dad and I were definitely different folks. He was a construction guy, digging ditches with his excavator all over the Okanagan and Kootenays/Interior, whereas I was more interested in nerdy stuff, specifically giant robots of various kinds. Fast forward many years. I started a Gundam model building club, and as I got really good at building and painting models, I decided to incorporate more of my 3D Modelling and Printing expertise to put it all together. Mind you, I used an HG scale kit so you will have to do some manual converting and then some if you want to use this for a MG or otherwise sized kit, but shouldn't be too hard overall. I give you, the first of its kind, HG Gundam Excavator Boom Arm! Complete with multi-articulated sections such as the swivel on the main shoulder piston, the extension of the boom arm (have no yet devised a way to keep it from entirely falling out without a friction fit to stop it.... If you have an idea to fix that please Remix freely!) and the cherry on top, the flexible bucket swing hinge! Which can be mounted in place using only a simple bit of Filament from your FDM 3D printer. For those of you with only resin printers, you're gonna have to makeshift something else to fit, or talk to your FDM buddies to give you some scrap little piece lol.
