PolarGraph Ribba V1.0 (A2 size)
Description
Hello makers. Today I present you my PolarGraph. I wanted a "discreet" polargraph, functional, and that "blends" in the decor. --- PEN HOLDER --- The most important part of a Polar Robot is without any doubt the pen holder. I finally decided to use @daghizmo's excellent holder: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:798076 (Go see his other creations -> https://www.thingiverse.com/daghizmo/designs) Since I use straps, I took some small model making clips to assemble them to the holder. (see picture) I also wrapped some batteries in black tape just for aesthetics. The stacks of the outer counterweights are glued with hot glue. --- FRAME --- The frame is a frame from the "Ribba" range from Ikea. (50 x 70 cm) https://www.ikea.com/be/fr/p/ribba-cadre-noir-50268874/ I removed the original plastic (2mm) and replaced it with a 6mm MDF board cut to the same size. --- ELECTRONICS --- -Arduino Uno - CNC Shield V3 + A4988 drivers (I find them quite noisy. If you have other experiences with other drivers, I am interested) - Nema 17 Ouyang motors - 17HS4023 - Power supply 12V - 2A - GT2 pulley - 20T --- SOFTWARE --- - Processing 2.2.1 + Polargraph http://www.polargraph.co.uk/ (I also managed to make it work with GRBL 0.9-servo + Universal Gcode Sender) The arduino and the Schield CNC are in a box from another project that you can find here : https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2349232 ------------------------------------------------------------------------- Improvements to do: - Add settings to the bottom of the frame so you can tilt the frame slightly. (To make sure the pen touches the whole surface). I imagine a support that could be fixed to the frame, to support the electronic box and 2 small adjustment screws that come against the wall and slightly spread the bottom of the frame. Sorry for my broken English. Stephane.
