X-Wing Small Ship Disk Magnet Mount 3.0
Description
This is the final, best version of my goal to create a working mechanism to create a forward-locking magnetic adaptor for 3mm x 1mm disk shaped rare earth magnets. What's nice about this design is that it holds minis in place far better, and for every ship you want to magnetize, you just print 2 of this adaptor, (one for the base peg, one for the ship. This is the most successful way I found to put this together: 1) Print vertically with supports, with the half cylinder pointed towards the FEP 2) Clean as you do 3) Before curing: With a tooth pick, apply a thin layer of super glue to the cross and around the inner edge of the tube on the side with the half cylinder 4) Add your magnet into that area 5) Before the glue is dry, cure under a UV light, magnet side up. 6) Once cured and the glue is dry, snap another magnet on top of the one glued in 7) Use a permanent marker to mark the side of the second magnet facing up 8) Repeat step 3 9) Repeat step 4, but the magnet side with the marker should be the side glued to the cross 10) Repeat step 5 This will get you a successful top and bottom piece. If you want all your magnets universal, I would highly suggest making a "master" magnet for the ship and the peg, that way all your magnets will be correct and you won't need to hit down opposing poles. This will provide you with a universal standard for all your ships.
