USS Cairo gunboat 1/700

USS Cairo gunboat 1/700

Description

The USS Cairo was the lead ship of the "City class" river gunboat, also known as "Pook turtles", built for the Union Navy during the American Civil War. Launched in 1861, she, alongside her sisterships, served in the Mississippi Squadron and had an eventful life, until she was sunk by a naval mine (called "torpedo" at the time) in 1862. Salvaged in 1964, she is now visible at Vicksburg National Military Park. The model is intended for SLA printing at 1/700 scale, however some details are rather small, and may not print correctly. There were very few disparities between the different ships of the class, so the model can be used to represent most of the City class gunboat.
