Description
Give your katana, wakizashi or tanto (or any other sword) the place it deserves and honours it best. I have no space on the walls to hang my swords in the classic lying position. Therefore, I have printed sword hangers in which I can hang my Japanese blades vertically. Printed in silky blue PLA to match the blue mounts of my Orchid swords. The printer is a dual extruder Flashforge Creator Pro. To make the part stable enough, I printed it with three layers on top and bottom, three walls and 15% honeycomb filling in the normal setting. I designed the sword carrier in DesignCad 3D Max. The files do not contain the plaque with the name of the sword (each of my swords has a name). But you can easily do that by designing a small picture with the name, saving it as BMP or JPG and then loading it in the Slice software after loading the STL file. The slicing software (in my case Flashprint from Flashforge and also Cura) imports images as relief, whereby colour differences are interpreted as heights. Once you have done this and scaled the relief appropriately, all you have to do is place it in the right place in the model of the sword-carrier. Printing costs a lot of time and, if you print the support structures out of water-soluble PVA like I do, also a little money. But it's worth it to me ;) By the way: You can of course also drape your sword horizontally in the sword holder. Like the tanto in one of the pictures. Or... the sword-carrier is so stable that you can even hang a katana and a tanto crosswise in it at the same time. (My swords are no decorations, but real, hand-forged swords made of 12-fold carbon steel with brass applications and wooden scabbards / handles. In other words: they are much heavier than deco made of cheap steel and plastic). I provide the file in the following formats: 3MF for the slicer software. (Flashprint and Cura 4.11 (Cura 4.5) or higher can read 3MF). STL for the slicer software if yours not able to read 3MF. DCD is the original CAD file in case someone wants to modify the sword-carrier. X3G ready for printing with a printer of the Flashforge family. DWG for AutoCad-Users if they want to modify the Sword-Carrier.
