Napkin Holder Sides and Base
Description
Recently I made new sides for a napkin holder that we have had for a long time. The original sides were made from painted steel and were curved inward which limited the amount of napkins we could put into it (see photo). Although very decorative, the pattern that had been stamped through the metal (pine trees) would snag napkins when loading them and you could even poke your finger tips on the tree tops. In the end the decision to replace them was because the metal was beginning to rust and needed to be painted. So I decided to just replace them entirely. I made the new sides flat, both to print easier and also to allow for a higher capacity of napkins. I was careful not to have any sharp edges or anything in the pattern that could snag fingers or the napkins. I did added some curved cutouts that are sort of reminiscent of the original tree design and also save quite a bit of material. The mounting holes are 75mm apart and accept #4 screws. I repurposed the original wooden base as shown, but also designed a printable replacement for it using the same basic dimensions. We really like this updated holder and use it all the time.
