Antenna Mount - Spektrum DX5e
Description
This is an antenna holder for the Spektrum DX5e. In my case, much of the upper section of the antenna casing had broken (off); the antenna itself, however, was electronically sound. The lower cap is designed to fit the uppermost section of the original base, right before terminating to the upper swivel, which I had removed before installing this replacement. As of version 1.0: - The said antenna base is designed to fit the original base which is roughly 14mm. It is a push-on tight fit. - You will have to secure the actual antenna to the "mast" using something like electrical tape or zip-ties. Just avoid using metal as to not interfere with the antenna's operation. - Fixing the antenna upper to the lower section is a rather tight fit. When pressing the mast onto the base, I placed a pencil between the two "legs" of the base to keep them from collapsing. I also used a heat gun to warm the joint before pressing it on, which I imagine is optional. I may modify the design for easier connection if the project gets more traction. - I printed the upper mast facing down so that the indentation that holds the antenna is on the bed. However, if your printer can't bridge that gap, or if adhesion of thin parts is difficult, I advise you rotate it 180 degrees from that position and just use supports. I printed the base cap with the "legs" up and the hole facing the bed, using tree supports. - I used PETG for both parts successfully but other materials (even flexible ones) would probably work just as well.
