TinReel

TinReel

Description

UPDATE: I made a few changes to the rod file. -Added two finger holes on the back to help push the spool out and should reduce print time as well. -I'm trying different spring designs first one gave in quickly, this one is longer and has two reliefs to divide the load, hoping it will increase durability as well as rebound stably. Ever went somewhere and spot a creek or body of water and wonder what's in it? If you answered YES then you're just an addicted fisherman or a weirdo like the rest of us! What you say? rod too big to carry around? That's what she said, unfortunately not to me. So here it is! the TinReel. I designed this little thingimabopper to fit into an altoid tin. Altoid tins are a fantastic storage item for EDC and bugout kits, so now. a fishing "rod". -The reel handle pops in and out of the spool and stores into one of the triangular crevices. -I incorporated a braking/drag mechanism into it with a return spring but printed in PLA, the spring doesn't have much elasticity, but it sort of does it's job. -There are two things you will need: -an ABEC bearing, you can find these in fidget spinners, face it, you're not using it. -a 3mm roll pin or what I used...a nail. -an altoid tin. Once everything sits in the tin, there's little movement and noise.
