1610/T8 CNC Z and X axis Bearing Blocks

1610/T8 CNC Z and X axis Bearing Blocks

Description

I was hunting around for things to make my 1610 a little more sturdy (mostly as a way to avoid spending money on a 3018) and came across TRAXA's bearing block. It wasn't set up for the bearings I had on hand so I had a go at recreating it in Fusion. One thing led to another and as I already had the axis modelled up I thought I'd also create a stiffener/bearing block for the X-axis as my machine was a version that just had thin metal plates bolted together with flimsy angle brackets.. The end result of all this is both X and Z have been made a lot sturdier and has given the machine a new lease of life. Things you will need: 6x LM8UU bearings (8x15x24mm) - 4 for X, 2 for Z 12x M4 brass inserts to press into the blocks 2x 24mm spacers for the front of the Z axis - I ended up making some out of brass on the minilathe. I printed the Z block at 100% infill, and the X block at 60% with 5 perimeters for strength and pressing in the inserts with a soldering iron. I also drilled holes at the back of the Z plates to line up with those in the bearing block to make sure it was securely attached at both sides.
