Monster Logo Magnet (Multicolor)
Description
This is a simple, two-color design that is meant for the MMU or Mosaic Palette. Amaze your friends by sticking to any ferrous metal! Is it "magnetic plastic"? Is it "magic"? Nah. It's just science. The secret is two small 6mm x 2mm neodymium (rare earth) magnets that are embedded inside the printed object. The ones I used are actually 6.5mm x 2.5mm and they fit fairly tight. If you're afraid the magnets you have might rattle, just put a tiny drop of glue with them. The real trick, however, is getting those magnets installed. Under normal, single-color printing, you could use the slicer of your choice and insert an "M600" (pause printing) at the layer that occurs just before the "holes" get covered up. Once the printer pauses, you simply insert the magnets and then continue the print. Voila! Unfortunately, if you're using the Palette, issuing an "M600" doesn't work very well, so you'll have to do it live. The easiest way I've found is to view the sliced file and note where the last layer height is before the "holes" get covered up. Keep an eye on the print (it takes a couple of hours to print one), and when it is done printing that layer, slow your printer way down by turning the lcd control knob counter-clockwise. This should give you enough time to pop the magnets in. It's a risky maneuver, but the price to pay for printing something as cool as this. With that said, you might want to make sure your lcd control knob will affect the printing speed before you start and that the magnets you got will fit in the provided "holes" (see link below). I also recommend that you print this face down, especially if you have a textured build plate, as it will greatly enhance the quality of the finished print. Good luck!
