Upgraded Outlet Mount for SmartThings (2018) Gen 3

Upgraded Outlet Mount for SmartThings (2018) Gen 3

Description

This is a remix/upgrade of my original design at https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:4736820 This design has been updated to version 1.4. This will likely be my final revision as the design seems fairly robust now, and this is a low-touch fixture for an aging technology device. Walls and supports are thicker and reinforced, resulting in increased strength and hold. Areas that experience stress during installation have been revised with an increase in durability. With this increased strength, there is also an increase in rigidity, so fitment may be a little more snug. I can report that my device has no issues fitting into this design printed with PLA, but your results may vary. In case you liked the original version, it is still available on Thingiverse. Also, refer to the original post if you'd like to see images of how the hub installs into this design. Since the general function and appearance of this design remains largely the same, I haven't taken nor posted new pictures of my hub in this updated design. Installation: I recommend feeding the adapter wire through the access port first. I accomplished this by gently folding the adapter wire at the midpoint, and feeding this bend through the port. Once the wire is through, the adapter can be fed through the square top. Note that the opening for the wire is on the right. The hub itself feeds through the front. Insert the bottom of the base into the lip/overhang at the bottom of the mount, and the top portion of the base should align with the rest of the mount. A little wiggling may be necessary to ensure that the adapter plug on the hub lines up with the hole for the adapter. The lip/overhang secures the bottom and holds the weight of the device. Plugging the adapter into the hub secures the top. Finally, adjust the length of the wire and tuck it in behind the hub. Note that there is a series of brackets/fingers that will hold the wires and support the hub from the back.
