Speaker Terminal Box

Speaker Terminal Box

Description

# Overview This is a banana terminal box for the [LCM Speaker](https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:4980197). The speaker is built with wires hanging out the back and due to the nature of the build, they are a fixed length. This box terminates the wires, making it easier to build speaker wires of any length without having to open the speaker up and re-solder the leads to the drivers. Both a left and right side version are provided, and the right side version is shown. # Hardware Banana terminals can be found at [Parts Express](https://www.parts-express.com/Mini-Insulated-Binding-Post-2-Red-2-Black-320-3375) No mounting hardware required, but heat-set M3 inserts can be used to secure the box to the speaker. The posts on the box keep it held to the speaker relatively well via a friction fit, but a screw or two secure it even better. The screw holes are placed in an area that minimizes the chance that you will penetrate the speaker chamber, but use a shallow brass insert to be safe. # Assembly 1. Mount the banana terminals on the box 2. If using a brass insert, soft mount the box using the posts that slide into the speaker, mark the holes, and insert the brass screw holes. 3. Pull the wires through the square hole in the rear of the box 4. Mount the box, and optionally screw the box into the insert 5. Cut the wires to length 6. Strip the wires 7. Solder the wires to the banana terminals 8. Enjoy some [fresh tunes](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZI9SDVEe-ks)
