Milling Machine Spindle Lock - The Experimental 3D Printed Version

Milling Machine Spindle Lock - The Experimental 3D Printed Version

Description

I'm designing an experimental 3D printed spindle lock for the Craftex CT129 Mill owned by my brother and I so that we can lock the spindle when broaching parts on the mill. NOTE: This can also be turned on the lathe. Ask and I'd post 2D dxf files This thing will document my design iterations and the results. I hope that a 3D printed part will function well enough that I do not need to machine a part out of aluminum. The spindle lock needs an outer retainer ring, in my case I am using an existing LED ring light clamp as the outer retaining ring. If you want to try this you should use that method too. The images are laid out in the order of assembly for the spindle lock and ring light combo, followed by the ring light assembly installed on the quill alone. The 130 and 140 mm LED rings used dont come with a diffuser so I designed one to both diffuse the light and protect the LED from chips and coolant.
