Craftsman 315 Miter Gauge Model STEP FreeCAD
Description
This is a simplified model for you to work with and build upon. It is accurate as far as I am aware. No dimensions were compromised in order to make the parts of the model fit together in the digital version. Measurement errors I encountered were tracked down, corrected, and dimensions were checked from multiple reference points. This upload does not include most fasteners, there are no screw threads, and no superfluous details. I did not take the time to reconstruct the hollow inner structure of the metal casting, and I did not attempt to model the die cast draft angles on otherwise "flat" surfaces. This is not designed to 3d print as is. It would be a terrible idea to FDM 3d print a scale and text on an angled surface like this gauge has. This is simply a baseline to build upon if you would like to try and make adapters or build something to fit on or around a similar miter gauge. My goal here is to insire you to try something novel by removing the bulk of the prerequisite modeling prep work. If you are in need of a miter gauge, this model could be modified easily to make a great printable version. The first step you need to sort out is what kind of miter bar you want to use and how to attach it. You probably need to get a miter bar that is around 450mm or longer as this is standard, and useful. My miter gauge came from a craftsman contractors tablesaw, but this miter gauge can be found on machines with Rigid and Ryobi to Saw Stop stickers and almost everything in between. I have included stl files mostly for you to see the thingiverse rendered pictures. These are manually meshed, checked, repaired if needed, and error free. There are also individual STEP files included for each part. These can be edited easily in any CAD software. I have also included my FreeCAD file.
