Dell Precision 3630/Poweredge T40 CPU temp improve
Description
This is a guide so the stock CPU cooler that comes in Poweredge T40 can take the air from outside instead of reusing the hot air inside the case. For some reason the Poweredge comes with the stock cpu cooler, and the case is super small, so the air flow should be carefully planned. This is not the case and they clearly cut costs on the server version, or the one I got didn't ship with the proper cooler, I don't know, I bought it new. AFAIK the Precision 3630 workstation has a better cpu cooler, even though both, the server and the workstation, use exactly the same motherboard with some custom BIOS with different features for each. You can even swap the BIOS images and they still work. It worked for me. I delided the xeon 2224G, replaced the thermal paste with liquid metal, relided it, and added this part. This reduced the CPU temperature drastically and now the processor can keep the turbo frequency for longer, since the temperature doesn't reach 80°C anymore!
