Ikea Milsbo Shelf Brackets Extended & Improved
Description
Extended shelf brackets for the Ikea Milsbo glass cabinet. Corner and straight brackets. About 2" long, with three holes for zip-tie anchors. Allows you to use 26" Rubbermade wire shelves without purchasing any parts I found that the existing brackets were way too small, and Milsbo > greenhouse conversion guides online told you to screw a metal L bracket against glass, which seemed reckless to me. So I designed these extended brackets which mirror the backs of the stock brackets. They screw directly into the Milsbo cabinet with the existing screws (M4-0.7). With 5 points of contact on your shelves, these should be strong enough to hold plants. I tried to snap one and couldn't. If you print at high infill it should be extremely sturdy. But I printed mine at 15% and they're holding my shelves up just fine. You'll want to print 4x corners and 1x straight per shelf. Sorry the design is so janky; I don't actually know how to 3D model. I 3D scanned the stock brackets, and then mashed a wedge onto the front in TinkerCAD. If you have suggestions for improvements let me know, and I might turn another version. And if you have anything else for the Milsbo you'd like to see, and think an idiot could design, let me know and I might try it. I set the CC license so that you're welcome to print, remix, adapt, and build upon the design. But you can't sell it commercially, nor any remixes, adaptations, or derivative works.
