Marantz 22XX Speaker Terminal Plate

Marantz 22XX Speaker Terminal Plate

Description

This speaker terminal plate will let you modify your Marantz from using push/spring connectors to accepting Banana plugs. I have based the design on my 2220B. The measurements should be the same for similar models. You will need some additional material. 1. Speaker binding posts. See photo for reference. 2. Heat insert nuts. Size M3, outer diameter 5mm, length 4mm. See photo for reference. 3. 1 sheet of sandpaper for metal. Grit 600 will do. The binding posts and heat inserts can both be bought from Aliexpress. (You will also need a solder iron) Installation : (Remove the old connector plate) 1. After you print the plate add the heat inserts with your soldering iron. 2. You will use the original m3 case screw to attach the plate, but you will screw it in from the inside. You will also have to sandpaper off about 1mm from the case screw. So that the screw is completely flush with the plate when it's installed to the case. This is done because there is an overlap between the screw and the plastic shell of the binding post. Check how much the screw protrudes when plate is installed. Remove the plate and screw the screws back in. With the sandpaper layed flat you can run the screws over it and quickly shave off the required length. 3. Remove the red and black plastic inserts from the binding posts. They are just in the way. There will not be enough space to attach the screw if left on. 4. I put the small metal ring between the plastic plate and the flat metal washer where you attach the speaker wire so it doesn't directly tough the plastic. As it will get hot when you solder and you don't want to risk that the plate starts melting. 5. Finally add some loctite or nail polish to the binding post screw so the nut doesn't come undone accidently. The Fusion 360 file is included if you want to make modifications.
