Knitting Machine Needle Replacement

Knitting Machine Needle Replacement

Description

I was trying to 3D print a replacement needle for my small knitting machine. I used the Revopoint POP scanner. I ran into a problem with it not being able to scan small parts. Support told me that part should be at least 50x50x50mm. I got around the problem by putting the small part on top of a larger one. Unfortunately this requires you to edit out the extra scan data. With such a small part, the three different scan views were pretty ratty. I managed to align them. I used a set of calipers to go over ever dimension I could and put the "correct" value in. I got a pretty good CAD model. My SLA 3D printer did a nice job with the print. Even my 3D EDM printer was able to print it (it was pretty ugly), but it still worked! I put the things I used on the project a: https://www.prusaprinters.org/prints/136553-knitting-machine-needle-replacement
