Honeycomb Lamp with integrated MCU and PSU
Description
This is a remix of the original with a base that contains both the LED controller MCU and a Meanwell PSU RS-25-5. Externally you only need a cable with a switch. The bottom and top part of the base are connected with heat inserts and M3 screws. The screws can be placed inside of TPU feet printed from Foot_5x15x12x2.6.stl. The stl for the foot was created with this scad project here: https://www.prusaprinters.org/prints/68213-rubber-tpu-feet-for-the-tefifon-or-other-uses . The hexagon rod for attaching the led strips fits into the cylinder stub on top of the base. I have a smaller hex rod for 10 mm wide strips and a bigger one for 12 mm wide strips like the ones with 144 LEDs/m. That way you only have to handle the hex rod when attaching and soldering the LEDs. You need one meter of LED strips in 6 segments (6x24 for strips with 114 LEDs/m, 6x10 for strips with 60 LEDs/m). You have to pay attention when attaching the strips that the first segment goes up, the next one goes down, the next one up again and so on. Solder the strips with wires in this sequence, e.g. solid wire AWG 20 or 22. So far I have used the parts named "LAMPE.stl" and "DECKEL.stl" from https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:4076765 for this. I have added a Fusion360 file that also contains a mostly parametric model for the honeycomb lamp shade, but I have not printed that one yet. You can experiment with the height and the number/size of hexagons by changing the user parameters in the model. I recommend printing the parts from PETG. The top part of the base needs supports from the print plate. The LED controller I used is one of these: https://quinled.info/quinled-dig-uno/ The controller comes with WLED pre-installed. In WLED you can create segments according to the number of LEDs on your strip segments and if you invert the direction of the odd numbered segments, all the effects run in parallel in the same direction up and down inside the lamp.
