RESET button holder for Commodore PET/CBM

RESET button holder for Commodore PET/CBM

Description

This is a RESET button holder for the Commodore PET/CBM, that clamps at the side of the bottom case. No drilling or gluing is required. It is possible to cut an M3 tread into the side hole (after widening it to 2.5mm) and screw in a clamping screw (M3x4 recommended). Usually, the button holder stays in place without. For the PET 2001-N (the dynamic PET, CBM30xx) and for the CBM8032, the RESET pin is on J4 Pin 22 (I do not own an early PET model and also no 40xx). The Commodore pin numbering is a bit odd and different from the now normal pin numbering. See the attached picture. The front row of these pin shown in the picture are all GND. The connector used is a wide spread Dupont connector. If you cannot crimp the terminals, you could get a Dupont ribbon cable, like it is offered on ebay (standard lengths of 10, 20 and 30cm are common), harvest 2 wires, cut off one side and solder it to the button. The button type is wide spread and it should not be too hard to get one like this. The diameter of the body is 10mm and the mounting drill is 7.5mm. There is a version for the right side, like shown and also for the left side, which might also be useful, f you want to operate the button from behind. The two button version also provides a DIAG button. If this is held down while the reset, the computer will boot into the machine monitor.
