Ender Extender 400mm drawer set
Description
After building my 400mm Extender kit (Ender 3 V2), I thought the printer looked unfinished without a set of drawers, and the original drawer looked a little silly. I also had been using a tool holder that was at the top of the horizontal extrusion that rattled and put weight up high on the frame. The full assembly will use a ~750g of filament, give or take depending on your settings. The drawer holder alone was ~450g when I printed it. The bigger drawers are deep enough to fit a 6" caliper - but because of the orientation that you need to print the drawer holder it also means that you must be able to use the full (original) printable height of your Ender. The drawer holder maintains a small gap toward the left side to allow the controller cooling vent to still work. There is clearance for the small silver screw on the top at this edge, this screw also used to help hold the drawer set in place. The bottom of the drawer holder has an "anti-tip", cylindrical shaped feature. This should just barely clear the surface your printer is resting on - if that surface is flat. This feature will also minimize how much the drawer holder material can "creep" and sag over time. The back of the drawer holder has an area cleared out to route and hold the ribbon cable for the controller. As youslide this part into place you'll need to stuff the ribbon cable into this area - gently so you don't damage the cable. The drawers and holder have "buttons" to help keep the drawers in their closed position, and also help prevent the drawers from accidentally being pulled out too far. There also are tongue/groove features to prevent the drawers from tipping outward as the drawers are opened. Everything I can remember for print settings is in the information below.
