Austin Healey Sprite hood badge wings logo
Description
I found a wings insignia, and used that as a starting point to reproduce the front hood (bonnet) badge for an Austin Healey Sprite. As far as I can tell, original and reproduction badges are unavailable, leaving car collectors with no alternative. This might not be great, but it's better than nothing. For the logo, I converted a PNG to SVG, then SVG to STL. I have the layers spread out so that you can print in up to 5 different colors if you want. I have not figured out a mounting system yet. My car still has a badge, so I cannot measure the size and spacing of the slots. This is really a work in progress, but it's a good starting point for others. Also, the designs are public on Tinker for those who want to modify it. UPDATE: I did a test print today with a 0.35 nozzle, and the results were ... not great. See the pictures compared to my original bonnet badge. The logo is far too small, although the wings are the right width. I'll see what I can do to improve. FWIW, anybody can access my basic files on Tinker by searching "Austin Healey Sprite wings hood badge". UPDATE 2: I uploaded version 2 with a much larger logo. I printed V2 in brown/yellow/silver/purple to demonstrate the ability to print in different colors. I saw flaw with V3 before I printed, and moved straight to V4. I think this is as close as I can get.
