Bafang BBSHD 100mm Fit Model (176mm chain ring)

Bafang BBSHD 100mm Fit Model (176mm chain ring)

Description

I'm thinking about dropping a Bafang BBSHD motor on my fat bike (this is for the 100mm BB). When I printed out the Bafang PDF containing the paper fit guide, the 176mm Bling Chain ring was the only one that looked like it would work. The fit was super close to the frame. I wanted a better way to check the clearance. This is a fit pattern based off the sizes on the Bafang printout (included in the screenshots). For clarity, on the Bafang printout, I've outlined in blue what I've modeled up. The critical dimensions are * the 34mm BB diameter * the 5/8" offset between the bottom bracket and the chain ring (176mm in this case) * the diameter and thickness of the 176mm chain ring * the offset for the bottom bracket flange (about .1 in my case) As you can see in the pictures, the 176mm ring is going to hit the frame. I'll have to add spacers (also included in this model) to get more clearance for the chain ring. The problem with this is the more spacers added, the more it throws the chain out of alignment with the rear cog. There is a limit before chain function suffers. I've added 1mm, 2mm and 1/8" spacers to the project. With this tool, I can check the fit more accurately and determine how much offset I need to add to get adequate clearance for the chain ring. I can also line the chain up with the tool to get an idea of how severe the alignment issues will be.
