Customizable turntable motorized with NEMA 17 stepper

Customizable turntable motorized with NEMA 17 stepper

Description

I designed and printed this for recording video of models. It could also be used for 3D scanning or any other purpose. The turntable with a 100mm diameter uses about 20 grams, or 6.5 meters, of filament. With the material saving holes use about 15 grams of filament. I used a SparkFun RedBoard (Arduino UNO compatible) and this Adafruit motor driver: https://www.adafruit.com/product/1438 to control the NEMA 17 stepper motor. If you want to do the same you can download the Adafruit example sketch associated that motor driver as a starting point and modify as desired. I used the MICROSTEP in my main loop() because it is smooth, quiet and slow. My Arduino .ino sketch is included with the files. The stepper motor sits in a small frame inside the base. I didn’t glue it in or secure it, but you certainly could or modify it in the OpenSCAD sketch as desired. I’m a novice with OpenSCAD so the included sketches are not perfect. I probably can’t answer your OpenSCAD question but there are many resources online. If you use all or part of this I would enjoy seeing your build. Thanks and please give it a “like.”
