EdgePro/Hapstone Style Whetstone Holder Adapter for Dremel
Description
This thing allows you to install a Dremel 8220 or Dremel 4000 into a knife sharpening system such as the Hapstone modular system, which uses EdgePro style whetstones. That way, you can grind the primary bevel on a blank knife/blade with a dremel grinding stone or sanding wheel to get the bulk of the material removed (and with a precise angle), and then switch to the whetstones for fine-tuning the sharpness and angle. There are two versions: The standard version "Dremel Adapter for EdgePro Style Whetstone Holder" which simply attaches the "Support for Dremel 4000" thing to an EdgePro style Whetstone holder. And the "Dremel Adapter for EdgePro Style Whetstone Holder shortened and updated for 8220" in which I shortened the length of the whetstone holder (so it takes less time to print), and also adjusted the location of the hole a little bit so it lines up better with the 8220. In both cases, however, due to imperfect 3D printing or perhaps because the original mount was designed for a Dremel 4000, there may be a slight misalignment of the angle between the Hapstone carriage (where you normally place the angle cube to plan your sharpening angle) v.s. the actual angle at which the Dremel will grind. In my testing, the misalignment was somwhere between 0.5 degrees to 1.5 degrees. So, please keep this in mind (e.g. by compensating for it by simply measuring the angle of the dremel, rather than the angle of the carriage).
