Caver's Bic Lighter Carrier

Caver's Bic Lighter Carrier

Description

Cavers often carry a lighter with them to check for bad air. The problem in caves is typically elevated levels of CO2. Don't try this in a mine where methane may be present! The problem is how to attach a lighter to yourself in a way that is secure yet readily accessible and keeps the lighter clean despite being dragged through the mud. A 48" piece of 1/16" cord is a nice length to wear around the neck and can easily be cut down if you prefer to attach it to your harness. The bottom part fits snuggly around the base of an American Bic lighter. The top part is a little looser to allow it to be easily be removed and it has a little clearance so it won't inadvertently drain the gas from the lighter. It works great in PLA or TPU. If it doesn't fit well or lighters are a slightly different size in your part of the world you can resize the model to fine tune the fit. I have included the Fusion360 file if you need to do major surgery. We talked about this and a whole lot more on the **3D Printing Today podcast** available on iTunes, or Spotify or wherever else podcasts are served. Learn more at http://www.threedprintingtoday.com/
