iFlight XL5 GPS Mast for M8Q-5883
Description
I made this small mast after finding that hard-mounting my GPS to the frame using this design (https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:4057458) put it too close to the EMF of the controller/motors and threw off compass readings so iNav position hold would "toilet bowl". With the added height the GPS stands perfectly still! This design includes 3 files, a mast, a GPS holder/cap, and a stiffener rod that can be printed in PLA or other rigid material to stiffen the mast (though I found at 90% infill it was stiff enough to fly). The mast and cap should be printed in TPU. There are 2 holes in the mast, the larger one in the center is for the stiffener rod if needed while the second hole is to run your GPS/Compass wires so there isn't anything exposed. As with G3CK0_za's design, I recommend that you put a small piece of foam under the GPS unit to keep it held tight in the cap. You'll also need: - 4x M3 nuts - 4x M3 x 12mm screws - 4x M3 x 10mm screws (for mounting to drone frame, I used the ones that came with the frame) Design files for Fusion 360 are included so feel free to remix for other frames/GPSs!
