M1 Carbine Anti-Tilt Follower
Description
A drop in anti-tilt follower for M1 carbine magazines I have been developing this follower for years making small changes here and there. I've finally settled on a design that functions well in both WW2 and current production KCI magazines. The backstory; I picked up my G.I. carbine several years back and it quickly became one of my favorite shooters. For the longest time, however, I struggled to get it to run reliably. I cant remember making it through a full magazine with a least a malf or two. Some new production springs did the job for the most part, with the remaining issue being the function of the magazines. The M1 carbine magazine is what it is; old school tech, flimsy stamped construction, anyone who has spent any time with the carbine knows what I mean. The instability of the magazine follower itself is the cause of most of the reliability issues with the carbine. I've spent years developing this follower, sent hundred of rounds downrange, countless hours tweaking print settings, etc. I've settled on a design that I know works well and does what it's supposed to. The follower has an additional front skirt, combined with integral guide ribs which are designed to engage with the stamped reinforcing ribs along the sides of the magazine. Additionally, there is a spring retaining clip along the rear skirt of the follower intended to hold the magazine spring in its proper orientation. This also aids in cleaning and reassembling the magazine since the spring and follower are held together as one complete unit. A bit of a modern update for an old classic.
