Perpendicular Drilling Jig
Description
Note! This is an improved version of the first one https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:4858756 I published about a year ago. 3 mm screws and square nuts have been added to allow for the rods and bushings to be tightly fitted. This drilling jig can be used to drill holes perpendicular to a surface. I have made it for my Bosch cordless drill, but decided to make it more universal by using an adaptor to fit the cordless drills to the fixture. It should be easy to adapt to models from other manufacturers, by modifying the included adaptor STEP file. Please share your design if you make another adapter :-) Designed for 8mm steel rods and bushings commonly used in 3D printers. It might not be necessary to use expensive linear bushings or bearings. You can instead print the included bushing, but beware that this is not ideal and that some tweaking to your filament settings may be necessary. Printing: Set vertical shells to minimum 5 for better torsion strength. All stl-files have the parts placed in proper direction for printing with no supports. Change history: 20220531 : Improved version 20220602 : Better threads for finger nuts and rod locks. Square nuts are easier to fit. A big thanks to Jeff Osborne, who modelled the Bosch cordless drill. https://grabcad.com/library/bosch-flexiclick-drill-driver-system-1
