R3D Mini Radial Fan Upgrade - MAJOR IMPROVEMENT

R3D Mini Radial Fan Upgrade - MAJOR IMPROVEMENT

Description

This is an upgrade to the cheap R3D mini amazon printer that yields impressive results. See the 3D Benchy Comparison for reference. The stock axial fan and shroud are next to useless, with very low airflow. This mod allows you to swap in a radial fan that delivers much higher air flow and a more focused air stream for major improvements to layer cooling. This is a very inexpensive upgrade to an already inexpensive printer. I designed the part for easy support removal. Make sure you set support overhang angle to 55 degrees in your slicer. You can get the fan you need here: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08R9J189W?ref_=cm_sw_r_cp_ud_dp_D8J1Z16PDJ6R0FRK031T You'll also need to swap the connector out to match the printer connector that can be found in the print head assembly: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01EJI8TQK?ref_=cm_sw_r_cp_ud_dp_00VTF518KX4RZKMYZ28J No soldering is required, you can just swap out the connectors. I did solder mine for extra cord length in case I want to move this fan over to a different printer in the future, but it is not necessary for this printer. The length of cord that comes with the fan is plenty. For mounting the fan and part, I only used a single bolt from the existing hardware in the bottom hole of the shroud.
