Ender 3 v2 Side-ways Spool Holder

Ender 3 v2 Side-ways Spool Holder

Description

I want to start by saying that this is not an improvement to the filament path and may actually raise issues for you but if you are more concerned with saving space, I got you. You will need a filament guide before the extruder but that does not guarantee flawless performance and I would have some kind of desk-top back up handy for troublesome spools and filaments. I have found that even the first 100g of a new spool may be at risk for tangling. You should also load the spool so that the filament feeds from the bottom as pictured. Having said all of that, this prints very well as oriented without supports though you will need to pause twice to insert two M5 nuts (mine are 7.9mm on the flats) you may need to adjust your horizontal offsets depending on how accurate your printer is to achieve a good fit. This should work with the original Creality roller but I would recommend some kind of low friction roller, I have my Remix of the Filler shown above and you can find that here: <link/>https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:5267457<link> In addition to the original Creality spool arm and some kind of roller, your total list of hardware should include: Two M5 by 8mm bolts Two M5 by 12mm bolts Two M5 nuts, no wider than ~8mm wide Four M5 washers Two M5 T-bolts to attach to the aluminum extrusion (the stock ones should be fine but anything that will fit should work) Please let me know what you think in the comments and be sure to post a make when you're done! Happy Printing!
