1963 Ford Thunderbird wiper control gear
Description
On my car, this gear was broken, so I modeled a new one based on online images I found of it, and some measured details from the broken gear. I printed this gear in PLA and resin. The PLA is strong enough to withstand controlling my wiper motor, though I have more confidence in the resin prints. The FDM gear is what I ended up using for my installation to test long term PLA durability for something in my car's cab. I will post any updates. To install the gear, I used a lighter to heat up the metal so that I could remove the old broken gear with pliers. I then reheated the end of the gear just enough to melt the plastic and press fit the gear.
