Rounding Gauge - Lite Remix (uses less filament)

Rounding Gauge - Lite Remix (uses less filament)

Description

This is a remix of Maspat971's “Rounding Gauge” but which uses far less filament, while retaining all of the functionality of the original: https://www.printables.com/model/155092-rounding-gauge I printed Maspat971's original design, not realizing how substantial that design is. The main body (not including the raised letters and center ring) is 5mm thick. I printed with 100% infill (my preferred infill % for most tools that I plan to use for a long time) and at 0.16mm layer height, so it took a while to print. When I cleaned up the finished printed model, I started thinking about ways to reduces the quantity of filament and print time needed, while keeping the X & Y dimensions and general design. I was able to make a ‘Lite Remix’ version that significantly reduced the filament needed. As follows: 100% Infill, 0.16mm Layer Height: - Original Model: 43g / 14.50 meters of filament - Lite Remix: 18g / 5.94 meters of filament 25% Infill (Tri-Hex Pattern), 0.16mm Infill: - Original Model: 24g / 8.21 meters of filament - Lite Remix: 14g / 4.59 meters of filament Differences between the original and Lite remix versions: - Model height (body thickness) is reduced to 2.50mm. - Raised center rim was removed. - Raised numbers were changed to cut-out or through-hole (negative space) - The numbers font size was increased a bit. - The center hole was enlarged to 30mm in diameter. NOTE: Since the thickness of the Lite Remix version is half that of the original's main body, it is more flexible. However, it remains stiff enough for nearly all conceivable practical uses that the original can perform. Basically, if the tool is being used to measure a rounded corner to determine the radius of the arc, the Lite Remix version works fine.
