Low Cost Grogu Animatronic
Description
This is a low cost animatronic conversion of a Mattel Grogu Doll. It's based on the sub-20-dollar toy: https://a.co/imPYSog This is also a work in progress, and not really a proper tutorial. It requires some skill in programming, wiring, etc... Hey, it's free, right? In addition to the print parts, it requires : - 4 standard servos and 2 mini servos. I found plastic gear to be quieter, but metal gear stronger. Underpowered servos will result in jittery movements. - You also need a pan/tilt servo mount like this: https://a.co/ivBxUvX (which comes with 2 of the required servos) - You will need servo horns to connect the arms to the body, and the wrists to the wrist mounts. Your servos may include them or you may need to source them separately depending on what you buy. To take the toy apart, you will need to: - snip a thread at the back of the neck that holds the robe on. - cut the zip ties that hold his head and hands on I recommend weathering the robe a bit while it is off. For extra good looks you can airbrush the head and hands a bit while you are at it. The head and wrist mounts are designed to fit the existing body parts. The head fits right on top of the servo. The wrist mounts assume you will be screwing a servo horn into them. The robe should fit back on over everything unmodified. I used the fabric body in my final version. I cut the arms off and opened the seam to make little arm warmer things. I turned the body into a turtleneck, and ziptied them back on like they were out of the box. It is a work in progress, but it's going well so far :)
