Ikea IVAR Custom Hinge Bracket
Description
#Background I recently bought a set of Ikea IVAR shelves and found that they had quite a few parts out of stock for this product line. I was looking to put doors on parts of my shelves but sadly they are out of stock. Additionally, the hinge kit that Ikea sells with many of their other products does not include the IVAR-specific bracket that allows for these hinges to be mounted to the shelves. They also don't sell it as its own part. Bummer. ![diynot thread on this bracket](https://www.diynot.com/diy/attachments/ivar-door-hinge-2-png.227014/ "Ikea Bracket") #Solution I sat down and decided to take a crack at modeling a solution that doesn't use the Ikea hinges. They are cheap, but the mounting mechanism is above my modeling skills, and more so I had Blume hinges from Home Depot that I removed from another piece of furniture. So thats what was made. The bonus of this solution is that you can build your own door and have any sized doors! You can also use different hinges with soft close, no soft close, etc. which Ikea does not offer. This bracket will be a drop-in replacement for the standard IVAR hinge bracket but will allow you to use a Blume hinge/plate and your own custom door. I have not made the door yet, but will update when I do complete that part of the project. You can use the included Blume hardware and mounting screws, as long as they are not greater than 4.25mm in diameter (the actual through holes are 4mm but filaments have a little bit of squish and screws will cut into them, within reason). #Recomendations * I do recommend using PETG as it is not as brittle as PLA. Since this part is under load from the weight of the door and could be close to UV sources such as sunlight, having a material that doesn't degrade over time would be best.
