Replica Stielhandgranate 24 + Splitterring (Function!)

Replica Stielhandgranate 24 + Splitterring (Function!)

Description

This is a replica of a German Stielhandgranate 24 from the Second World War. The 3D model is based upon Jschliebe's model, which itself is based on DragonflyFabrication's model. I did a few changes to the proportions based on a blueprint of the grenade. I also increased the hollowness of the inside a bit more. This not only saves material and is more realistic, it also makes putting a string through it easier. More on that further down. I also redid the threading for the top and bottom part. It now takes the same thread part, so the "screwbit" has to be printed twice. Fitting it inside the head might be a bit hard, as there is not much tolerance. Some scraping and filing might be necessary. Refer to Jschliebe's uploaded images to get a basic idea of how to assemble. I might add my own assembly instruction image if there is some request for it. The most important part of this edit is that there is now a functionality to the grenade. The head has a small ring on its underside, where you can insert a piece of a stiff wire, such as paperclip wire. I recommend that you do this before attaching the "screwbit"! Fold the wire as you see it in the photos. You can put a string into this wire in order to hold the string in place when you unscrew the bottom cap. But you can still pull the string out the "activate" the grenade. As a nice side effect, the wire will create a click sound when the string is pulled out. Finally, there is the frag sleeve. Print three of the clamps and glue them at equal distance to each other onto the main part, on the third row from the bottom, so that just a bit of the hooked part sticks out. Then you can push them down and put the ring over them. Google for images of the real thing, this works just like it.
