PWM Fan Controller Mount
Description
My son's constantly breaking iBuyPower computer came with a Radeon graphics card. The GPU fan controller went bad. I didn't want to spend $200 on a new GPU. And, I didn't want to mess with repairing the board. So, I bought a cheap DAOKI PWM Fan Module on Amazon (4 bucks). And, I connected the GPU fans to the DAOKI instead. I powered from a 12V adapter. The jack is mounted in an extension slot as shown. Now, before you jump on me for not just using the computer power supply... I didn't have the right jack. But, I did have this other stuff. Eventually I'll get the right connector, and make the extra power supply go away. The mounting clip doesn't require any support. The slot cover for external power requires support, but only from the build plate. There's a great YouTube video by ColdestMoon about this board (ZFC39 PWM Fan controller). The unit comes with a piezo alarm should the fans stop turning. It also comes with a thermostat probe. But, I hooked the fans to an output that is speed preset by an onboard potentiometer. I mounted the board and controls for easy access. One important note... The DAOKI 4-pin outputs are not the same size as the GPU fan connector. Fitting the PWM connections was probably the most irritating part of this project. You can tell from my pictures that I jury rigged it a bit. I used single pin male-to-female jumpers, and stripped the plastic off every other male pin. So, all 4 pins would fit side-by-side, without pushing against each other, when I inserted them into the GPU fan connector,
