Can Racer 01
Description
Finding a project I wasn’t sure what I wanted to make next. I scribbled around, drew some robots, blocky animals, nothing triggered me to detail it. I continued sketching things and than a can racer came into my mind. Okay - that might be fun. I roughly sketched a can and did some test assemblies. 330ml didn’t look right for me, so I tried a 500ml one and it had some charme - at least to me. Defining some goals For me “can racers” are kind of fragile. They are made out of really thin material and perhaps some e.g. welding wires. Often things are just connected by punishing a hole into it and perhaps some glue. I really like that look and want to keep it that way. “Can Racers” are also creative and everybody makes his own version of it. So it would be great to make it configurable. The question is how by not drawing dozent of different versions. My solution is: People should just load the can into the slicer and than add parts to it by using the “add part” function. Shure - might require multi-color printers and support structures, but those parts will need those anyway. I guess that are enough goals for the initial version. Make it thin and keep all connections simple (or don’t add them at all) Make variations of parts so people can create different versions The result During the process of detailing the car I thickened some parts slightly to make it e.g. multi colour or to enhance printability. But IMO it’s still light and you can see many details. I’m not into cars so names might (and will) be stupid. But I guess you can figure it out. I’ve created variations for some parts and put a (Glue) into the name. I'm slowly moving away from Thingiverse.
